Tim Shoveller (BCom, BEd)
Director of Post Secondary Applications
Originally from Halifax, Tim Shoveller graduated from Dalhousie University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and worked both in banking and sales. Tim returned to school at the Nova Scotia Teachers College, where he was awarded a Bachelor of Education, with a specialty in English, in 1993. After moving to British Columbia the following year, Tim taught senior level English at Archbishop Carney and was appointed Head of the English Department three years later. Tim’s impressive teaching style and consistent student results on provincial exams put him in high demand. He was sought after by many local private and independent schools in the Lower Mainland. Tim accepted a Department Head position at St Thomas More Collegiate, a prestigious independent school in Burnaby. For the past 10 years, Tim’s students have consistently scored significantly above the Provincial, District and Independent Schools’ average on the BC English 12 Provincial Exam. More than 70% of his former students have gone on to post-secondary studies in universities all over North America and Europe.
Tim’s second passion is tennis. He is an avid tennis player who has represented Canada at the World Senior Team Championships. He serves on the Board of Directors of the prestigious Vancouver Lawn Tennis and Badminton Club and is the BC representative on Tennis Canada’s Seniors Committee.
